In this episode of Shaping Your Journey, my special guest Michael Baker explains his varied journey growing up in a musical environment where even his church choir in Edmonton, Manitoba was made up of very talented singers who went on to be professionals. His interest in the world of percussion led him to becoming a percussion major, a symphony performer and a soloist, and a successful creator of “Sofbags” cases for percussion instruments and MB mallets - specially designed and manufactured custom-made tympani mallets. He is the founding member of Symphony Nova Scotia, as well as founding principal timpanist of the Mexico City Philharmonic.

In this episode of Shaping Your Journey, my special guest Frank Corniola discusses his journey from being born in Italy and then moving to Australia at the age of seven. He took up drumming and quickly started his professional career as a drummer in Australia. He then went on to establish Australia's well known drum magazine, "Drum Scene", opened up his own music publishing company Musictek and a very successful drum shop in Melbourne - Drumtek. He is also responsible for creating AUDW - Australia's Ultimate Drummer's Weekend Festival - hailed as the biggest drumming event in the southern hemisphere.

Following his studies with William Street and getting his Bachelor's degree, he performed in The President's Men Band and then became the long-term chair of percussion at Eastman School of Music. His students include Steve Gadd, Leigh Stevens and many others.
